Earful: April 22nd, 2010

Music Update: April 22nd, 2010

Thursday is Earth Day, where we celebrate our planet and raise awareness about the amazing world we're all apart of. A small world it is, as each week we see every corner of the globe represented from artists in big and little cities worldwide, providing music to DJ's in all the other big and little cities with the click of a button. We encourage everyone to do their part so we all can continue dancing on this green planet for as long as possible.

Nashville, Tennessee is normally received as the epicenter of Country music, but REAL TIME HAND MOTION (RTHM) is out to put a House stamp on the city as well with "Moonshine", the debut of their new label, Knocturnal Emissions. FRANKIE J's remix has been making rounds on promo for a bit and causing quite a stir, so hear what all the fuss is about. RealDeep, the label from Brian Cullen aka BJAK, has been consistently churning out Soul Full jams for just over a year, but their name garners more attention with each release and is on the tip of the tongue of House DJ's around the globe. Their first ever sampler EP "Amuse Bouche" brings together some seriously deep new material from fresh new faces RESEARCH, South African artist ARNOLD TEMPO, as well as veteran RealDEEP recording artists CESAR RAMIREZ, APPLE JAZZ, BRIAN GARDNER, and BJAK, and you can only grab your copy over at Stompy. ATJAZZ & MARK de CLIVE-LOWE, a combo tastier than peanut butter and jam, team up for "Sweat No Sleep", where Mark's amazing keyboard skills pair with Atjazz's afro and broken beats; returning to their raw, dancefloor roots, FISH GO DEEP let loose with "Indian Summer", three deep house tracks on their Go Deep label, and also appear on the I Records compilation "Selector Vol 4" alongside KEVIN YOST, FRESH & LOW, and JULIUS PAPP; Clap Your Hands is the new quality house label from the founder of Mothership & Kiss Club in Germany, MICHA KLANG, and he kicks it off in fine form with his EP "The Other Men"; Gotta Keep Faith also debut their new label Vialocal with the vibes of "Raised in a Cage"; JAY-J drops the single "Reach Up" on his Shifted label; Tonicsole has been on a tear, and their latest deep house ripper is PALM SKIN PRODUCTIONS' "Head On A Stick"; and the Aussie duo of RANDOM SOUL's second release "Outta Sight Outta Mind" gets added to the shelf with SONNY FODERA, JOE POMPEO and YOGI & HUSKY remixes.

Freerange. We don't know what label boss Jimpster puts in his morning tea, but the man has an ear for good music. Each and every release appears to outdo the last, but up against the full catalog, each stands unique and on its own and is similar to comparing a delicious apple with a delicious orange--they taste different and you want both of them. SHUR-I-KAN's "One Night in Tokyo" is the latest piece you'll want to take a bite of, with the jazzy groove being remixed by Upon You's MATHIAS MESTENO. The cat's out of the bag on Dessous's "Best Kept Secrets"--the extra large LP features music from MOODYMANC, BURNSKI, DAVID DURANGO and a host of others; PEZZNER lays it down with his remix of "Moods" on Full Flavor; after his release together with Pablo Cahn, London's hype artist HECTOR is back on 8bit with his own EP "Hispanic Causin Panic", featuring a remix from label head NICK CURLY and already receiving massive support from all the key DJs; Connaisseur's sub-label Outils Du Connaisseur drop some serious, unstoppable and infectious dance attacks from Polish citizens POL_ON on "Poloniusz Style"; Jay Haze's alter ego Fuckpony provides us with another sparkling gem, the second single from his current LP that has the equally romantic and revealing title "I'm Burning Inside", and gets reworked by REBOOT, PAUL RITCH and SIERRA SAM; "In Deep Blue" is the first release from Consistent , a new label from Hamburg whose mysterious founder runs another well known label; Apparel Music release an audio landscape contaminated by twelve different cultures, "Jazzy Market"; Part 2 of the final remix series for RENATO COHEN's "Sixteen Billion Drum Kits" features BORIS WERNER and MR G for Hong Kong's Sino; and Hello?Repeat finally steps into the digital world. Add to your Picks, because the whole catalog is on its way.
