Earful: April 1st, 2010

Music Update: April 1st, 2010

We're still shaking off the sand and hangovers from a crazy week in Miami for the WMC last week, as the rooftop party on the Clevelander was amazing!! At capacity only two hours into it, JAY-J, SCOTT WOZNIAK, YOGI & HUSKY, DJ MEME and CHUCK LOVE showed their talents all around for the jam session, whether it was on the decks, playing the keys, pounding bongos, singing or hopping on the flute and horns, it was incredible! SONNY FODERA and TOMMY LARGO tore it up at night, and the location and view couldn't have been more epic the entire event. Mark your calendars for next year, we'll most certainly be back. Pulling double duty, it was as if we never left with the amount of music that went up this week, so getting down to it........

The Tek world in Europe is really catching on and crossing over into Funky territory more and more, and the music coming from overseas is finding more relevance on these shores. Besides the "The Early Bird" on Terminal M; JAMES FLAVOUR shows his range with "Whose in the House" for Dirt Crew; EZEQUIEL SANCHEZ brings a "Swing & Drink" to Norik Net; ROMANO ALFIERI drops "Sweet Harmony" on Stictly Chosen, and the DJ MADSKILLZ remix of DAN CURTIN's "Mr Bean Do An E" on Mobilee all prove that the Tek heads are all about the groove right now. Another hint of funk on ANDRADE's of "Face De Bouc" on Dessous; AUDIO WERNER's EP "Meanwhile" is an excellent journey of Moody house on Hartchef Discos; AMIR's "Uneasy Listening" on NRK includes a JUSTIN DRAKE remix; EXTRAWELT's tech sound is heard on "Reset/Leaf 43"; top producer SHLOMI ABER is a "Slow Dancer" on Ovum; always intriguing, ELLEN ALIEN's "Pump" is her latest EP for her BPitch Control home; and now that the album is finished, CLAUDE VONSTROKE has time to remix JAMES BRAUN's "Symphonia" for Tartelet.

Down-N-Out
featured: artist. In Flagranti / label. Five20East

CRAZY P rolled through San Francisco a few weeks ago and provided a great show with their unique blend of disco, funk, broken beats and production. They bring that sound to both Jalapeno and Drop Music this week, with their remixes of MAX SEDGLEY's "Something", and 62 MILE HIGH CLUB's "The Money". So fresh indeed. LOS CHARLYS ORCHESTRA takes it back to the 80's with the cosmic "Funkanova"; haunting and one to do your head in, PETER GORDON & THE LOVE OF LIFE ORCHESTRA's "The Hat" is the new single for DFA; "Fresh Out The Box" from Freestyle features BEGGART CO's edit "Rock Creek Park" just in time for those outside gigs this Summer; and the one and only King of the Disco, HARVEY presents "Locossolus", a trip into the mind of the expert
