Music Update: March 18th, 2010
We know how hectic it can be in the final days leading to the WMC, so to help you out here's a simple checklist of the only things you'll need:
Sunglasses--as dark as possible
Wallet--with as much money you can stuff in it
Shoes--comfortable ones for the day, and sandals for when you're motor skills go
Business Cards--make sure your info is correct
Shoulder Bag--for all the promos, shirts, flyers and other swag handed to you
Passport--you do want to get on your flight home, don't you?

The Funk

The Funk was busy this week, even Tek and Soul Full were getting in on the Funky action. One of the most consistent production teams over the past 10 years, the INLAND KNIGHTS, return to their Drop Music label to remix the 62 MILE HIGH CLUB's "Money"; the jackin' beats of the 1200 WARRIORS make up their new single "For Da Web"; THANO VESSI gets in "The Game" on Flatpack Traxx; SOYDAN is competing with himself this week--"The Step Up" is his new EP on Lingo, and "Pick It Up" on his own Yakuza are both vying for attention; JOHNNY FIASCO gets "ReJacked" with a collection of past remixes; ARCO is the latest young producer to grace the Guesthouse label with "Turning You On"; Digi Funk drop "Italian Comedy" from FUNK MEDITERRANEO; CONAN LIQUID samples the classic TRANKILOU record from 1997 for "The Real Deal"; TOMMY LARGO pulls double duty with his remix of "Name in Lights" on Blatt Traxx, as well as his single on the Baldeelox sampler, "Don't You Ever"; Kinjo does it again with "All Nite Long" from KINKY MOVEMENT; Tango goes a bit deeper with FRANK SOLANO's "Warm and Fuzzy"; SONNY FODERA's rising popularity grabbed Miguel Migs' attention, as he makes his debut on Salted Music with his remix of "Can You See Him"; and a gathering of the finest--MARK FARINA, JOSHUA IZ, INLAND KNIGHTS, BROADWAY & WILSON, and DIMITRI MAX all remix GENE FARRIS' "Here I Am Baby" for KEN ECB's Alphabet Music.

Soul Full
featured: artist. Andy Ward / label. Deep Sugar Music
With a discography filled with names like BLAZE, CHEZ DAMIER, DESSOUS and FABRIC, the 'Pet Shop Boys of Deep House' as they so humbly have been called, MOTORCITYSOUL, add two amazing pieces to the list--their remix of "Drenched" for Kolour, and the single "Deliver Me" for Simple. "Take A Stand" is the new one from GRAND HIGH PRIEST, with a MIKE DUNN remix; Superhuit, the French label with the classic Detroit house sound reminiscent of Moodymann and Rick Wade goes digital; LOVEBIRDS get "Deep Down & Discofied" on Knee Deep; 8bit Records co-owner GORGE started up Katchuli to focus on the deeper side of House, and "Broke Like A Pro" from SOLAN is a fine example of the vibe of the label; OFFICE GOSSIP remix BRETT JACKSON's "Change"; DJ RICO's "Philadelphia" is a jazzy affair on Cabana; STACEY KIDD reworks MELVIN MEEKS and REGGIE HALL's "Nic of Time" in his signature Kidd fashion; Seasons won't let up with their string of 'gotta have' releases with ARNAUD D & SHEYI's "World Of Love"; MATTHEW BANDY and MONOMAN both remix GREG CAMBELL's "Flashback 77"; JAVI LOPEZ gets into some "Underground Soul" with his latest Big Mama release; and more timeless Soul Full gems added from the legendary New York label, Easy Street".

A common name on high profile labels such as Cocoon, Ovum, Tuning Spork and F Communications, DJINXX stands alongside JON TEJADA, STACY PULLEN, DIDIER SINCLAIR and DAVID DURIEZ for his collection of "The Remixes"; currently receiving praise for a variety of his releases, TUCCILLO teams up with TANIA VULCANO & TATO for "Dirty Jam" on Isgud; Safari Electronique's "Sampler EP 9" features the funky side of Tek from the likes of ARNAUD LE TEXIER and SINC; "Groovabilisme" from CATWASH gets remixed from BORIS WERNER and PHIL WEEKS for Adult Only; ROBERT HOOD's techno odyssey "Alpha/Omega" is released on his M-Plant label; STL's "Musik 4 Life!" on Something includes three singles and 6 Loop tools to work in your sets; Music Man release the climactic "Musterion" from Humano; JONS gets a "Rise" with his sensational EP on Supplemental Facts; MARCUS VECTOR releases his second EP for Contexterrior, "Show Me The Roof"; no stranger to My Best Friend, KAISERDISCO's minimal sound of "Pez Gordo" is the most recent for the Traum sub-label; and the always prolific JUSTIN MARTIN returns to his Dirtybird home with his first solo EP since 2005, "Robot Romance", and it once again defies genres with an electro-tek-funk sound that is truly Justin.

One of the hottest producers around right now, THE REVENGE, puts his twist on "Disko Z" for Bosconi; DA WIESEL, HIGH FIDELITY, CALAGAD 13 and FLASHBAXX offer up QUINCY JOINTZ "Remixes Vol.2" for Timewarp; GOLDEN BUG's "Flamingo" gets reworked from IN FLAGRANTI, ROVE DOGS and PETE HERBERT, who also remixes "Hot July" for Maxi Discs; CRUSIN GANG get into the "Zen and Art of Disco" with tracks from the likes of WOOLFY, SORCERER, BOTTIN and THE LOVE SUPREME;
BEATFANATIC drops "I Love It" for Soundscape; and THE CRYSTAL ARK's incomparable "The City Never Sleeps" is released on DFA.
