The recent earthquake in Chile was so colossal it tilted the Earth's axis permanently and caused it to rotate faster, which means all of our days just got shorter by 1.26 microseconds. That's one way to up the Tempo.....

The Funk

"Keep It Original" is a great way to get it started, partly for the meaning and also because its the new release on Guesthouse from one half of RANDOM SOUL, HUSKY, and features a remix from the other exports from Down Under, THE HOUSE INSPECTORS; the longtime staple of quirky, funky house, THE FREAKS, release a collection of classics on "Best of Times" for MFF; the techno cowboy, BRETT JOHNSON, appears on Q-BURNS Eight-Tracks with his signature beats and bump on "Missing You"; MONOMAN shows his versatility with the "Nasty FM" LP; JT DONALDSON is "Getting Up" on Amenti; "Drugmules" is the latest beater from the HOODFELLAS for their Smoke City label; "Sexy Memories" from CHRONIC FLAKES comes from one of our favorite labels, Bosconi; BYRON FOXX has "Soul Fever" on Monokini; with four tracks in the Top 10, WATTIE GREEN is rapidly making noise--the Funky, Jazzy kind--on "Midnight Radio", his latest release on Spatula City; JOE SILVA & JOTA WAGNER give some "Thermal Shock" to Jota's Lunatic Jazz label; UNEAQ collaborate with COMBINED for "Where's My Bottle" on their Clique Trax label; the HAWT boys, EASILY INFLUENCED, remix JOHNNY KARTON's "Workbody" alongside MEL ROSARIO and PETE LeFREQ for Shak Digital; the popular French producer from London, GIOM, remixes FUNK MEDITERRANEO & ALEX AIUGELIO's "Special Thanks" on FLC Records; and returning after a three year hiatus from putting out some of the funkiest West Coast house tracks from a long line of producers--LAWNCHAIR GENERALS, THE RURALS, JT DONALDSON, RITHMA, BLACKSOUL, EAST COAST BOOGIEMEN to name a few--Los Angeles based label Deepfunk is back with SLEAZY McQUEEN's "Deep Blue Voodoo" exclusive to Stompy.
